HOTEL REVIEW: THE LAGUNA RESORT & SPA NUSA DUA (BALI)
The Laguna Resort & Spa, operated by Marriott International, is ideally located in the heart of the ITDC Tourism Complex in Nusa Dua, 5 minutes away by foot from The Museum Pasifika and only 10 minutes away from the Bali Collection – a premium shopping, dining and entertainment centre.
The 5 star resort, surrounded by lush tropicalgardens, provides spacious rooms, suites and luxury villas with the promise of a memorable Balinese experience. Amenities include 7 lagoon pools, a private white sand beach, award-winning restaurants & bars, a SPA as well a modern gym.
The Resort
Nestled within the beautiful and exclusive white sand beach coastal area of Nusa Dua, the Laguna Resort & Spa is a vast resort that boasts perfectly manicured tropical gardens, and natural lagoon pools. Interiors are a perfect blend of contemporary and traditional Balinese style using marble, precious wood and colourful fabrics that give a very warm and welcoming first impression.
Upon arrival, as we checked in, we were given a map of the resort and were told that we could use a buggy to go around as the hotel grounds are quite big, but we actually really liked walking through the peaceful green and lush alleys.
The resort is divided into two parts; the first part consists of a calm sanctuary of 11 pool villas with their own reception and a fantastic butler service. The main building offers 257 rooms and 19 suites bordered by 5000 sqm of crystal-clear swimmable lagoons to which you have direct access from your room if you stay at one of the Lagoon Access Rooms. Beaches and areas with sunbeds and cozy gazebos can be found all around the 7 swimming pools, so you never get bored and it never feels crowded.
The saltwater lagoon, which was our favourite spot during our stay, has some white sand on the ground that gives the water an incredible turquoise colour and a very tropical holiday feel. Floating there, we felt like we were in the middle of a private island in the ocean.
One Bedroom Pool Villa
The One Bedroom Pool Villa is well appointed with generous living space, a spacious bedroom beautifully decorated with subtle Balinese touches, a closet and a large en-suite bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the peaceful garden. There is even a small kitchen with a maid’s room with bed and bathroom.
The highlight of the villa is definitely the ample outdoor space with a pool and a garden probably bigger than in all the hotel villas in Bali. The cozy gazebo is the perfect spot in which to relax at the end of the day.
At the back of the gazebo, there is a door that leads to ‘the secret garden’, a romantic and very tranquil place with water fountains, that is nice to explore with your loved one.
In-villa massage is a must, and we had the most relaxing time with two lovely and super professional therapists. They came around 20 minutes before our treatment to set up comfortable massage tables with frangipani flowers and we were asked to fill in a form just like at the SPA.
Floating breakfast in private pool
Why have traditional breakfast at the restaurant when you can have everything you want on a tray floating right in your pool? Waking up to this floating breakfast and enjoying it inside the pool with the delicious sun on our skin is definitely something we could get used to. It is an amazing experience that you should absolutely try once in a lifetime, tropical feeling guaranteed.
Afternoon tea at Awarna Restaurant
The afternoon tea is set up every day at Awarna Restaurant offering stunning views of the white sand beach and the fresh breeze from the ocean. A selection of savory and sweet Balinese treats are served on a 4-tiered elegant stand alone with delicious tea. It is a great way to get to try some of the most popular Balinese specialities in a gorgeous and tranquil atmosphere.
Romantic dinner on the beach
The romantic dinner at The Laguna Resort takes place right on the resort’s private white beach at the ‘Great Laguna Gazebo’, with unparalleled views of the Indian Ocean.
An alley of candle and elegant white veils wreathed around the table set the tone for a romantic and magical night in a dreamy atmosphere. Indulge in a three or five course exceptional dinner and go extra special by adding some champagne or your favourite bottle of wine. The food came up beautifully plated and tasted amazing. We had some really good lobster, foie gras, delicious beef tenderloin and the desserts were insane.
An unforgettable evening with our feet in the sand listening to the sound of the waves with incredible food.
