Hotel Review: The Mulia, Bali

In 2012, Mulia Bali opened its door in Nusa Dua beach, one of the most exclusive of Bali’s coastal areas.

Less than a year later, the resort was chosen as the winner for #1 Beach Resort in The World by Condé Nast Traveler USA – Readers’ Choice Awards.

Fast forward 8 years later, The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas continues to be recognized as an outstanding world hotel. Over the years the property has accumulated an impressive number of awards from prestigious and respected travel websites, magazines and organizations. Not long ago, it earned a new Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star hotel award and will be showcased with other properties on

The Mulia

We have already stayed at Mulia Resort several times, but this time, for our Christmas little getaway, we wanted to treat ourselves to a stay at The Mulia. As mentioned above, The Mulia is a luxury all-suite accommodation with special privileges, butler service, and exceptional facilities.

After a smooth check-in process at The Mulia’s dedicated lobby, we were happy to hear that our suite was ready for us so we could benefit from an early check-in.

Our lovely butler arrived immediately to introduce himself and escorted us to our stunning beachfront suite. He was friendly yet very professional and explained everything we needed to know to get the best out of our stay at this dreamy property.

As soon as we entered our room, we felt like the next couple of days were going to be magical.
The Baron Beachfront Suite offers a comfortable and luxurious living space leading to a huge balcony with a dining table, a sofa AND a JACUZZI overlooking the beach and the sparkling Indian Ocean.

The bathroom is extremely luxurious with stunning marble countersinks for him and her, super high-tech toilets, a massage rain shower, and a design white bathtub. The bathroom offers the same views as on the terrace so you can literally brush your teeth or take a bath while admiring the ocean.

Views from the Baron Beachfront Suite

The view from our floor (5th floor) was absolutely breathtaking. We really loved the unobstructed views of the Indian Ocean and of the iconic Oasis Pool.
We can easily say that this suite is really high on the list of our top favorite ocean-front suites in Bali.

At the end of the day, we came back to our room with a sweet surprise from our butler and the team and it was just delicious.

Afternoon Tea at The Lounge

The Lounge at The Mulia, is an exclusive dining room facing the Oasis Pool and the ocean. It is only accessible to The Mulia and Mulia Villa guests. The place offers inside as well as outside seating. Thanks to the high ceiling and full glass windows, the inside area is full of light so those who wish to enjoy the air-conditioning won’t have to compromise on the views.

The decoration of the place itself is elegant and modern with comfortable sofas and chairs to chill in.
It was a real pleasure to spend time there, especially for breakfast and at the end of the day.

One amazing, really cool benefit of staying at The Mulia is the complimentary afternoon high tea with cocktails and canapés. From 4-6PM every day, an assortment of sweet and savory treats is served on sterling silver stands along with free-flowing selected wine and cocktails. As for the food, it is possible to choose from two menus: the Classic Afternoon High Tea or the Asian Afternoon High Tea.

Oasis Pool at The Mulia

Having access to the iconic Oasis Pool is one of the privileges you get when staying at The Mulia, as this pool is exclusively for guests of The Mulia and Mulia Villas.

The Oasis Pool is a truly beautiful infinity lagoon pool facing the Indian Ocean. As its name indicates, swimming there feels really peaceful and relaxing.
Balinese-inspired statues of ladies harvesting rice (signifying prosperity and wealth) border the pool; they give a palatial ambiance that has made this spot one of the island’s most photographed pools.

At the Oasis Pool, one thing even cooler than chilling on a sun lounger in the middle of the water is enjoying the free use of the sophisticated and glamourous cabanas. The cabanas offer a private enclosed lounging space with comfortable day beds, along with some refreshments and a full à la carte service.
The cabanas are the perfect place to unwind in privacy and luxury.

As at Mulia Resort, The Mulia also has direct access to its private white sand beach where the large sunbeds facing the Indian ocean are a place you won’t want to leave except for a dip in the crystal-clear waters of the beautiful Nusa Dua’s beach.

In-Room Breakfast

When staying at The Mulia, breakfast can be taken either in The Lounge, The Café, or in your room.
We chose to have it delivered to our suite! What could be better than having your breakfast served right at your table when you have a perfect view from your balcony?

From Truffle poached eggs, to Fillet mignon with foie gras, from Smoked salmon, caviar & soft scramble ‘vol au vents’ to perfect Eggs Benedict, French toast and Berry pancakes, the menu selection was impressive and definitely met our expectations.

FYI: Breakfast at the Café offers a large buffet with international food stations and a selection of à la carte dishes. Breakfast at the Lounge is a full à la carte concept with more gastronomic ingredients and special attention to presentation.

Our thoughts on The Mulia

Our experience at The Mulia went far beyond our expectations and we loved every second of our stay there.
Everything was flawless: the service, the facilities, the beauty of the place itself…
We highly recommend this place for a couple on honeymoon seeking a luxury beachfront suite with high-end commodities.

For us, it has been a magical time and we are already thinking of planning our next stay whenever we have a special occasion to celebrate.
